Amelia has started swim lessons. I am so proud of her! She has no fear when it comes to trying new things. The swim instructor would ask her to do something and she would try it. When she wasn;t successful, she wanted to try again. She was even swimming to the wall her first day. Mind you we have been trying to teach her ourselves since last summer, but she trusts the teachers more than us. I guess it was going to happen eventually. I will keep you updated as our lessons progress.

This evening, my sisters and I ran a 5K obstacle course and completed a scavenger hunt challenge. Alana was my partner and while we didn't get our best time on the 5K (I was bringing her down with my not being able to breath in the thick air), we were able to finish the whole thing (about a 10K) in an hour and 17 minutes. We would have finished 94th out of 400+ teams! Unfortunately our D-chip didn't recognize our start time so 35 minutes was added to our total. We started in the 6th wave with my other sisters. We had so much fun though that I don't even care!
The obstacle course included a balance beam walk, tires, hay bale hurdles (we made sure to pose for spectacular pictures for these), and an army crawl under a net. These were all disbursed through the original 5K. At the end of the 5K we were given the first clue for our scavenger hunt through the park. We really rocked the scavenger hunt and it was so much fun to complete the whole race as part of a team.
After the race, we met up with my sisters (who also ran), my cousin, and my Dad to enjoy Animal Kingdom at night. We rode Everest until we got the perfect picture. I cannot even begin to describe how fun that ride is at night. All in all it was a spectacular evening. I cannot wait to run the family 5K in October with Erin and David included! |
