Amelia is getting better and better with her drawing. Today she drew a butterfly and a rose and they were GOOD! Her butterfly had wings and antennas and decorations on each wing. Her rose had tons of petals and a stem and a leaf. I am just amazed at her fine motor skills and how quickly they are developing.

Today we had Brennan's first birthday party. We had so much fun celebrating with our family and friends. Nothing too big, but fun just because our little boy is ONE! He had fun running around and playing with the other kids his age. When it came time for presents, he was more interested in sitting in Amelia's rocking chair than he was about opening the gifts. He will love them though! When we did cake, he wasn't too sure about it once again. This kid really does not devour anything unless it looks like yogurt or cheerios (at least at first glance). He enjoyed his strawberry banana jello cake with coolwhip icing. So much so that he was falling asleep in his chair but continued to eat trying to get every last crumb. We got it on video and you can see it in our video section. Enjoy! Thank you to everyone for making Brennan's party memorable!

So today Amelia has just been full of fun sayings that have just made me grin from ear to ear. It started this morning with her taking a look at the morning sky. The conversation went a like this:

Amelia: "Mom! The clouds are pink!"
Mommy: "You are right!"
Amelia: "Why are the clouds like that Mom"
Mommy: "Because the sun hasn't come up all the way yet."
Amelia: "That is fantastic!"

I am not sure where she got that, but the expression she said it with just made me smile. Her vocabulary his just growing and growing.

Our second huge grin of the day was from Amelia our linguist. She has now made up her own language that she uses to play with and say in her prayers. It all sounds the same to me but it is pretty much mumbo jumbo. She was on the phone pretending and goes...

"Dubbba doobie ruppa roo." (this is as exact as I can get ) "That means dog."
"Dubba rubba doobie doom." "That means lights."

This continued for several other phrases. When I tried to speak to her in her language I obviously did it wrong because she just laughed and said, "You are the silliest Mom I have ever seen." I couldn't help but smile.

Lastly, we have a camera on our laptop that David was playing with this evening. He had Amelia taking pictures and video. The pictures were fun and made her laugh, but when she saw that she could watch herself record a video and then rewatch that video she just recorded...she giggled and giggled till her belly hurt. She had so much fun making these videos. She got kookier and kookier the more David let her take them. I finally got my camera out to video her laughter. I promise to post the video soon. You will grin from ear to ear like I did today. Just try not to when you see it.

Happy Birthday Brennan!!!

Brennan is ONE year old today. We wanted to give a shout out to our little buddy Caleb who was born the same day as Brennan just two doors down. Happy Birthday Caleb! We know you like Jax, but we wish you were still four doors down the way.

Today we started our celebration by going into Brennan's bedroom as a family. Everyone was ready for the day except him. He was still asleep! Amelia walked in and said, "Happy Birthday Brennan!" and he perked right up. He LOVES that sister of his. Brennan wouldn't touch his morning cupcake so Amelia enjoyed hers all by herself. A great breakfast I know, but it doesn't happen everyday. We all went our separate ways for school and work and then came home to PARTY! We ate dinner and Amelia ate EVERYTHING! This is three days in a row now. I guess 3 years and 7 months is the magic age where we start trying protein again. Our fingers are crossed! Then Amelia tried to give Brennan the present she picked out for him. He was not sure about opening presents. When Amelia helped and showed him there were Disney cars inside, he was thrilled. Amelia was thrilled that Brennan would "share."

Next we tried cake again. I made some brownie cupcakes. I guess Brennan is a chocolate boy because he downed it. Yes, this surprised me because he won't get near anything solid that is not a Cheerio or related to yogurt. I will press on. Anyway, you will have to look at the pics in the photo gallery because words can describe how much he liked this cake. Here are some teasers. Enjoy!

Lately, Amelia has had this great new habit that I just adore. When she gives me hugs and kisses she has to kiss both of my cheeks, my lips, my forehead, and my nose. She expects the same in return. I just love that she is still so loving! I know the day will come when she won't want me to carry her like a princess or sing her songs at night. She will still want hugs and kisses probably a little longer than those things, but not with the same loving open arms she has now. I will cherish it while I have it!

Amelia: "There is a doggy in my belly"
Daddy: "Why is there a dog in your belly?"
Amelia: "To get the fly!"

Do you think we have been singing "There Was and Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly?" David and Amelia have been making their own verses up.

Amelia and I went to Playhouse Disney Live. We have been counting down the days ever since I bought the tickets in January. We had pretty good seats and were there with some other kids that Amelia knows that are around her age. Amelia was sporting her Little Einsteins shirt and was wearing a head band like June. She had her rocket toys, her baton like Leo, and her microphone like Annie. We ended up getting a new rocket cup and a Handy Manny light up toy (they replace the batteries for up to two years as many times as you need! isn't that cool!). The show was great! Amelia really got into it and was dancing and singing along with her favorite characters. I had so much fun watching her. It was totally worth it! She still lights up when you ask her to sing the songs from the show. She acts them out and everything. Her favorite one is..."Tweet Tweet, Ribbit Ribbit, Buzz Buzz, Whoooooo" Just ask her to do it the next time you see her. She might oblige and it will definitely bring a smile to your face. I added some pics to the photo gallery, but here are a few teasers.

So Brennan is officially our little boy and not a baby anymore. We made the car seat switch. Instead of buying him a new one, we bought Amelia a new one instead that should be the last car seat we purchase for her. I made my first impractical purchase (at least when it come to baby/kid items). We bought her a girly car seat. Amelia calls it her "princess seat." It is tan with small pink flowers . David has already apologized to Brennan about having to sit in a girl car seat, but I think Brennan and Amelia both will probably not need the car seat anymore at about the same time. We will see! Brennan LOVES being able to see us now. The Gator car seat swallows him and helps me remember he is still my little boy. Here are some pictures of both Amelia and Brennan in their new car seats.

You also need to check out the videos because I added one of Brennan trying to feed himself with a spoon. It is just too funny! Enjoy!

Well, quite a bit has happened around here since my last post. Brennan had his first ear infection. It passed relatively fast and he was not that bad. He was cutting a tooth at the same time so I didn't even pay attention to his low fever until it just wouldn't break and he was unusually cranky. Cheerios would not even make him happy and that is saying something. We caught it early and didn't even need a full strength antibiotic. Shortly thereafter we attempted letting Brennan drink through a straw. He took to it right away! I now order him his own cup of water with a straw when we go out. That same day he started eating thing by taking bites out of it. He has always been really good at chewing hard foods when they were tiny enough for his mouth, but now he just holds it in his hands and takes bites. He is still not to sure about many table foods, but I think we are making progress.

On March 3, I went to Amelia's PreK Open House. I just LOVE her PreK. I am so thankful that we were fortunate enough to be directed to her daycare and then that the director found a way to get us in when the waiting list could have been miles long. I have never felt concern about dropping her off and I know she learns and has FUN each day. She is always talking about her friends and teachers. It really does take us half and hour to leave because she has to tell EVERYONE goodbye. God was really watching over us when He opened this door for our family.

On a final note, I have a friend who has inspired me to start really playing the coupon game. I have always been about saving money and cutting coupons, but I was happy if I saved money in the double digits. When my friend Aneesha was telling me how she would go shopping and not spend a dime while getting the things she needed, I decided I needed to step up my game. She pointed out a few coupon sites to me and then another friend on facebook told me about "The Coupon Game" blog. The lady is phenomenal! She does most of the leg work and compares all the deals from the grocery store ads and then the online coupons etc. Between her and Aneesha I have gone from wanting to save maybe $10 to wanting to spend less than I saved. This last time I went shopping I really prepared and stocked up on enough Cheerios (a gold mine for us) and chicken for the next 4 months. I ended up spending more than I saved (not much more though), but I saved over $70 and will come out way ahead since I don't need to buy Cheerios and meat for a long time. I am so thankful for these women. God has shown me that this is one way that I can help our family budget. The lady that is the author of "The Coupon Game" has her slogan as "learning to be a better steward of God's money - one coupon at a time." This really touched me and makes the time that goes into cutting coupons and researching my grocery list worth it. Plus, it is just plain fun to watch the savings climb and then compare notes with other people. It truly is a game. Call me if you want any pointers. I LOVE talking coupons now. I am on the web sites as soon as the new ads come out now.
